Chidum Ayeni Makes History – Becomes the First Female African Managing Director in Heineken

Last week, the Nigerian Breweries PLC family received with a lot of excitement, Chidum Ayeni’s appointment as Managing Director of Brarudi S.A. Burundi (one of the Heineken operating companies in the Africa Middle East & Eastern Europe Region)

This appointment which took effect on 1st April 2020 makes Chidum the first female African Managing Director in the history of Heineken!

In the course of her over 20-year career in Nigerian Breweries, Chidum has consistently demonstrated dexterity, simplicity and pragmatism in her approach, starting within our IT department. She cross-functioned to our Procurement department as Business Process Improvement Manager where she developed and embedded very impactful business-wide procedures before returning to head the IT department.

It was an easy decision to appoint her as the Head, Digital & Business Transformation in 2018, at a time our business embarked on a transformational journey and focused on embedding company-wide digital agility. In the two years she spent on the role, one could literally “touch” the impact of the people and business results she has delivered during the period.

As she leaps into yet another career journey, at an unprecedented time such as this, the 3000 strong men and women of Nigerian Breweries wish her and her family resounding success.
